Nominations Now Being Accepted for Chair of the University Union Advisory Board

ASI Student Government is now recruiting for the 2020–21 chair of the University Union Advisory Board (UUAB). The UUAB’s mission is to represent students by maximizing and improving experiences at the Julian A. McPhee University Union, Cal Poly Recreation Center, Cal Poly Sports Complex, and Doerr Family Field.

Any currently enrolled Cal Poly student may nominate an eligible student interested in the chair position. The chair of the UUAB serves as an officer of the ASI corporation, is responsible for calling, planning, and facilitating UUAB meetings, represents the UUAB on the Cal Poly Athletics Governing Board, ASI Business and Finance Committee, ASI Board of Directors, and more.

In accordance with the ASI Bylaws (Section 7.4.3.), the chair of the UUAB shall be available to fulfill the responsibilities of their office beginning Aug. 1 to include meeting attendance, in-office work, on- and off-campus retreats, and other affiliated responsibilities. As a corporate officer of ASI, this position is eligible to receive a scholarship to assist student leaders with the cost of education. Nominations can be submitted now through April 16 via email to the current chair of the UUAB at chairofuuab@calpoly.edu. Students being nominated will be required to accept the nomination during a virtual UUAB meeting on either April 9, 2020 or April 16, 2020. Due to the current shelter-in-place order, UUAB meetings will be held virtually via Zoom for spring quarter. The UUAB chair is elected by a majority vote of the UUAB student membership and will take place during the April 16 meeting after the close of nominations.
