Spring Poly Body + Being Workshops at the Cal Poly Recreation Center

A healthy lifestyle starts with you; Poly Body + Being is here to help you reach your wellness goals. Each quarter, world-class experts in nutrition, diet, and exercise teach interactive classes that all members of the Cal Poly community can experience.

All workshops are complementary for Cal Poly Recreation Center members. Workshops located in the Recreation Center Training Room will be complimentary to the community, including non-members. Workshops that are not held in the Training Room will be available to the Cal Poly community with a purchase of a day pass. Class registration is not required.

Free Pop-Up Neck and Shoulder Massages

Relax and relieve stress with free 15-minute pop-up neck and shoulder massages from SLOCO Massage and Wellness by the large windows in the Recreation Center lobby.

Every Saturday, April 21–May 19, 9:30–11:30 a.m.: Olympic lifting

Learn the proper techniques of Olympic weight lifting and how to lift safely with Cal Poly Athletics Strength and Conditioning coach Sara Bergheger. All levels welcome, from beginners to advanced lifters.

Every Wednesday, April 25–May 16, 12:15–1:15 p.m.: Navigating Nutrition

Take the confusion out of nutrition and find your personal success formula to better health and wellness. Learn to identify food and lifestyle choices and set measurable goals to transform your body and mind. Participants will receive a free food journal.

Every Thursday, May 10–May 31, 5–6:30 p.m.: Women & Weights

Intimidated by weights but want to get stronger? Build confidence in the weight room while practicing lifting techniques with Cal Poly Athletics Strength and Conditioning coach Sara Bergheger.

Friday, May 11 and Saturday, June 2, 1:30–3 p.m.: Practice of Balance

Cultivate balance from the inside out through mindful yoga and nutritional awareness. Discover the tools and knowledge to build and maintain a sustainable, healthy, and balanced lifestyle.

Tuesday, May 11, 12:15–1:15 p.m.: Energy Max

Maximize your energy levels and metabolism through food and exercise. Discover how to fuel your workouts and your day through energy-rich foods and critical meal timing.

Tuesday, May 22, noon–1 p.m.: Poolside Meditation

De-stress with a relaxing poolside group meditation session. Enjoy the outdoors and the calming sounds of the water while getting in tune with your mind and body.

Wednesday, May 23, 12:15–1:15 p.m.: Listen to Your Gut

What makes up a healthy gut? The food we eat directly impacts the bacterial balance in our bodies which is crucial to overall health and well-being. Discover how helpful bacteria process food into energy and learn how to heal your gut from the inside out.

Thursday, May 24, 6–9 p.m.: Dance the Night Away

Leave your stresses at the door and dance the night away during our three-hour dance-a-thon! Recreation Center Zumba instructors will be teaching continuous 30-minute sessions featuring a variety of songs and dance styles. Drop-in anytime and dance as long as you desire.
