Cal Poly Community to Gather for Candlelight Vigil Honoring Las Vegas Shooting Victims

By: Riley Nilsen, Kaelan Sobouti, & Daniela Czerny on Oct 03, 2017 in ASI Student Government

To our fellow Mustangs,

The feelings of sorrow and grief we have for those who have been impacted by the Las Vegas shooting are difficult to put into words. Our hearts go out to the victims of Sunday night’s tragedy and their loved ones. Several members of our Mustang community were in attendance at the music festival with their friends and families. We are tremendously grateful that all of our students have made it home safely.

It’s important for us to reach out to our campus community to support, comfort, and uplift one another during this tragedy that has impacted our nation. These events can be difficult to discuss, but being a Mustang means being there for one another. It means ensuring each of our worries won’t go unheard or unnoticed. It means coming together when our campus needs it most.

Please join us Wednesday, Oct. 4 at 6 p.m. in the University Union Plaza for a candlelight vigil to remember those that were lost and affected by the terrible events in Las Vegas. For emotional support, please visit Cal Poly Counseling Services or call 805-756-2511.

With heavy hearts,

Riley Nilsen, ASI President

Kaelan Sobouti, Chair of the University Union Advisory Board

Daniela Czerny, ASI Chair of the Board
