Now Hiring: Lifeguards & Swim Instructors

By: Madison Shepherd on Mar 10, 2020 in ASI Recreational Sports

Looking for a fun way to spend your summer in San Luis Obispo? Apply to become a lifeguard or swim instructor at the Cal Poly Recreation Center! Enjoy the summer sunshine all while getting paid, gaining valuable work experience, and making friends at the pool deck. Flexible scheduling and part-time work are available. Staff will receive full Recreation Center access during the duration of their employment. Anyone above the age of 16 with a valid diploma or work permit is welcome to apply. Applicants do not need to be lifeguard or CPR certified to apply, but must obtain certifications at the start of their employment.

“Joining the aquatics staff was one of the best decisions I have made during my time at Cal Poly! It allowed me to stay in SLO over summer and it created a new opportunity system for me,” Anika Bonich, third-year nutrition major and seven-quarter ASI lifeguard, said. “The ASI community is like a family, and starting over the summer is a great way to join that family. You also get access to the Recreation Center over summer!”

Cal Poly students and non-Recreation Center members can take advantage of this job opportunity. If interested, stop by the lifeguard hiring event between 11 a.m. and 5 p.m. on April 4 at the Recreation Center pool deck. Applicants must submit applications prior to the hiring event. Visit ASI Jobs to apply. Contact aquatics@asi.calpoly.edu or call 805-756-1366 for questions.
