The Cal Poly “P” is open once again! The hillside was closed earlier this year due to safety concerns following heavy rains that caused a mudslide behind Fremont Hall. Decorating the “P” is a long-standing campus tradition that has been in practice since 1919, but did you know you now need a reservation to decorate the “P”?

Groups can reserve the “P” from Sunday beginning at 6 a.m. through Friday at 5 p.m. By Friday, the “P” must be returned to its original painted white condition. The following groups can make a reservation:

  • Currently chartered Cal Poly Clubs and Organizations
  • Cal Poly Campus Departments (Dean’s offices on behalf of departments)
  • Cal Poly Auxiliaries (Cal Poly Corporation, University Housing et. al.)
  • Academic Departments (i.e. professors who book for class use with their students)
  • Athletic camps and revenue generating events or activities
  • Private use by Cal Poly students

For more information on the reservation process, visit Decorating the Poly "P" on the ASI website. Happy decorating!
