To my fellow Mustangs...

As spring commencement quickly approaches and my time with ASI comes to an end, I’ve been reflecting on how much the organization has changed during my term as president. This past year, ASI made great strides in our outreach and communication to students. We increased our inclusion efforts by putting a spending limit on ASI Presidential campaigns and added ally training to our Student Government training and development. We worked to continue to ensure that our facilities are keeping up with the needs of the students. We established amazing relationships with administration and have worked hard to ensure that ASI is a collaborative partner with the division of Student Affairs.

Our reach extended far beyond campus this year. After registering thousands of students to vote in the San Luis Obispo election, we are proud of the impact that students had in the local elections. We look forward to our continued efforts in building stronger relationships with community leaders. Our increased presence at San Luis Obispo City Council was noticed, and again our student leaders made strides in making our community more welcoming and safe for students. The ASI Board of Directors passed resolutions to support increased mental health services, resources for undocumented students, veterans, and many more.

We have had many great successes this past year but our work is never done. Next year’s ASI President, Riley Nilsen, will be hitting the ground running to continue serving students at the level they deserve. ASI is in a strong position to continue to be a campus and community leader that represents the needs of our ever-changing students.

To my fellow graduates, congrats we did it! To all students that will be returning in the fall, enjoy your time at Cal Poly. There is truly nothing better! Thank you for your support during my term this year and allowing ASI to be a part of your ultimate college experience.
