By: Jenna Brown on Oct 25, 2018 in ASI Staff Spotlights

Name: Sophie Moser
Position: Event Scheduling Assistant
Major: Environmental Management and Protection
Minor: Spanish
School year: Third
Hometown: Portland, OR

1) What makes you happy?
Being around my friends and family, going back to Portland, Oregon to visit home, traveling, meeting new people, tofu salad rolls with peanut sauce, learning new things, waking up to natural light, sunrises and sunsets at Prefumo Canyon.

2) What’s something most people don’t know about you?
Every December I compile all my videos from the past year and I edit them together. I call them “year videos” and I have been doing this since 2014. I hope to continue, that way in 35 years from now when I am wondering what my second year of college consisted of, I can watch a short video for the highlights.

3) Share your favorite memory working for ASI.
During my first week working for ASI, my coworkers and I went on a picnic to Terrace Hill. I love that my team puts so much emphasis on bonding outings and spending time together out of the office. I really enjoyed getting to know my coworkers and visiting a new spot in SLO.

4) What’s the best place you’ve traveled to and why?
I have traveled to a lot of amazing places, but overall, I fell most in love with Israel. It is super traditional, advanced, and rich in culture. The hummus and chicken shawarma were an added benefit.

5) Where's your favorite spot in SLO?
Prefumo Canyon or the Cal Poly Arboretum.

6) If you could create a slogan for your life, what would it be?
Always bite off more than you can chew.

7) What’s on your bucket list?
Learn to play the ukulele, see Patagonia, go to La Tomantina, learn to juggle, and live abroad.

8) What are you most passionate about?
I am extremely passionate about environmental justice and being cognizant about the impacts of my daily actions.

9) What do you hope to achieve after you graduate?
When I graduate, I hope to find my niche in the business world and to find a career that I am passionate and genuinely excited about.

10) What advice would you give to students interested in working for ASI?
GO FOR IT! I cannot recommend working for ASI enough. If you’re proud to be a Mustang and are looking for more ways to get involved with campus life, ASI is the place for you!
