File Now for the 2020–21 ASI President and Board of Directors!

Be the voice for your peers, college, campus, and community by filing now for ASI president or the ASI Board of Directors! The candidate filing period for the 2020–21 academic year is open now through Friday, Feb. 21 at 4 p.m. Join ASI Student Government and next year’s class of emerging leaders to enact change on campus and in the San Luis Obispo community.

To file for ASI president or the Board of Directors, interested students must complete the Candidate Packet that can be found on the ASI elections website.

Learn more about Student Government and the elections process by attending an informational session on one of the following dates:

  • Wednesday, Feb. 12 at 6 p.m. — Cal Poly Recreation Center Training Room
  • Thursday, Feb. 20 at 11 a.m. — Julian A. McPhee University Union, Room 221

Each session will feature a presentation by a current member of Student Government and will be followed by a Q&A session. See what you can achieve by getting involved and take advantage of the chance to connect with Cal Poly’s student leaders!

Student Government members will also be available for interested candidates at informational booths on Feb. 6 from 11 a.m. to noon on Dexter Lawn and Feb. 18 from 11 a.m. to noon in the UU Plaza.

As the collective voice for Cal Poly students, members of Student Government advocate for change, provide support and resources, and create positive contributions both on and off campus. Leaders have the opportunity to create a better Cal Poly for current and future generations of students. Elected positions include:

ASI President

This position represents the general student body and acts as the official representative of ASI to Cal Poly’s administration and the general public. The commitment required for the ASI president exceeds 40 hours per week and begins on the last day of spring quarter. This position is also expected to be available during the entirety of summer quarter to fulfill responsibilities of meeting attendance, in-office work, retreats, and other affiliated job functions.

ASI Board of Directors Representative

Board members are elected from each college and collectively serve as the official voice of the entire student body. This branch also acts as the corporate governing board for ASI. Regular board meetings convene every other Wednesday at 5:10 p.m. in UU 220 and are open for the public to attend. Every Monday, members of the board engage in working meetings to facilitate discussions regarding ASI business endeavors, events, and campus issues. The time commitment for board representatives is in excess of 10 hours per week.
