ASI Student Government Spotlight: Meet Kylie Clark

By: Jenna Brown on Jun 26, 2018 in ASI Staff Spotlights

Name: Kylie Clark
Position: Vice Chair of the University Union Advisory Board
Major: Communication Studies
Minor: Environmental Studies
School year: Third
Hometown: Novato, CA

1) What’s your favorite summer activity?
I know it’s basic, but my favorite summer activity is going to the beach! I love swimming in the ocean and am currently learning to surf!

2) What's something most people don't know about you?
Most people don’t know that I’m allergic to cats and dogs. It’s funny because I have two of each and have interned at two veterinary clinics!

3) Share your favorite ASI Student Government memory.
My favorite ASI Student Government memory is one day when one of my committee meetings was cancelled, we went and hung out at Mustang Station. None of us were required to, but we still all wanted to be together and hang out!

4) If you could create a slogan for your life, what would it be?
Kylie’s life: I’m actually not always in the library.

5) What's the best place you've traveled to and why?
The best place I’ve traveled to is sub-Saharan Africa. I went there to do wildlife conservation work with cheetahs and painted dogs and it completely changed my life. I actually hope to live there someday.

6) If you were stranded on a deserted island, what three items would you bring with you?
Assuming I can’t just bring a plane, gas, and a pilot, I would bring the book The Kite Runner, my cat, and a lifetime supply of sunscreen (I’m very pale).

7) What’s on your bucket list?
Among about one hundred other things, I want to see every natural, ancient, and new wonder of the world and to travel to every continent.

8) What are you most passionate about?
I am most passionate about human and animal rights and the environment. I hope to someday see a world in which we are all equal and are taking good care of the world, or are at least getting there.

9) What do you hope to achieve after you graduate?
I hope to spend some time doing service and then work for a nonprofit or the United Nations.

10) What advice would you give to students interested in joining ASI Student Government?
I would tell them to do it! I applied to be on the University Union Advisory Board on a whim, and it has become a defining aspect of my college experience.
