California Secretary of State Alex Padilla will speak to Cal Poly students on Wednesday, April 12 from 11 a.m. to noon in the KTGY Gallery in building 21, room 105a. California Senate Majority Leader Bill Monning will moderate the forum in which Secretary Padilla will discuss voting rights and his efforts to increase voter registration and participation. A question-and-answer session will follow the forum.

Sponsored by ASI and the Cal Poly Political Science Department, the event will provide a significant opportunity for students to personally engage with state leaders. Secretary Padilla will also discuss an upcoming pilot program in San Luis Obispo County that will allow students to register on voting day at the polls. Voter outreach efforts last year at Cal Poly engaged more than 4,500 students to register to vote, request an absentee ballot, or sign up for reminders about upcoming elections through TurboVote.
