By: Jenna Brown on Nov 29, 2017 in ASI Staff Spotlights

Name: Hannah Avdalovic
Position: ASI Events Outreach Student Assistant
Major: Journalism
Minor: Psychology and Music
School year: 4th
Hometown: Folsom, CA

1) What makes you happy?
I love connecting with students and helping to provide them with the ultimate college experience. Getting to help plan events that help alleviate student's stress or provide them with a good time makes me incredibly happy. I have also been a music lover and musician myself my entire life. There is nothing better than getting to work concerts and help book artists that give students the gift of music.

2) What's something most people don't know about you?
Most people don't know that I am heavily involved on campus. In addition to working for ASI Events, I am also the manager of Central Coast PRspectives, which is our on-campus, student-run public relations firm that works to brand and market Mustang News and Mustang Media Group. I am also the co-editor-in-chief of Her Campus Cal Poly, which is our campus' chapter of the No. 1 magazine for college women.

3) Share your favorite memory working for ASI.
My favorite memory working for ASI has to be hanging out with all the big talent we book. It was surreal hanging out with people like Adam Devine, Flosstradamus, Dev, Echosmith and T-Pain. I got to eat his vegetables after Spring Stampede. Beyond that, I have created some of my most cherished friendships through working for ASI.

4) If you could create a slogan for your life, what would it be?
Work hard, contribute to society and love yourself...then, everything else falls into place.

5) What's the best place you've traveled to and why?
Croatia. My dad grew up in Croatia and I have a lot of extended family there. It is one of the most beautiful, if not the most beautiful place I have ever been. I loved exploring my heritage and meeting family.

6) Where's your favorite spot in SLO?
Montaña De Oro. I love running the Bluff Trail, hiking Valencia Peak or just enjoying a picnic or sunset on the sand dunes.

7) What's one thing you can't leave home without?
Sadly, my phone. My digital calendar is basically an extension of my brain and it would be hard to get through the day without it.

8) What's on your bucket list?
I have always wanted to go skydiving. I am hoping to go over Pismo Beach before I graduate.

9) What do you hope to achieve after you graduate?
I am hoping to work in the sports or music industry doing digital production and social media marketing.

10) What advice would you give to students interested in working for ASI?
Follow all the ASI social media (especially ASI Events) to really familiarize yourself with the entire organization and all the ways you can get involved. Then, check our job listings on the website frequently until you find one that sounds appealing to you. This is probably the best place you could work at school and I promise you will not regret it!
